A book by Bouchaib Mhamka and Raffaele Masto, with a preface by Damiano Rizzi, Chairman of Soleterre Onlus. The story of a young suicide bomber, told by his childhood friend, who grew up with him in the Moroccan shantytown where Soleterre Onlus works. In 1998, when they finish school, two young Moroccans, Said and Bouchaib, answer the call of Islamic integralism. On 10 April 2006 Said blows himself up, killing himself and the policeman chasing him. Telling the story of his life and death is Bouchaib Mhamka, his childhood friend. Bouchaib Mhamka lives in Sidi Moumen, a shantytown near Casablanca, home of the perpetrators of the Madrid train bombings on 11 March 2004, and the young suicide bombers who blew up a hotel in Casablanca in 2003, killing 40 people. Mhamka agreed to retell his story and that of his friend, to illustrate the situation in which integralism easily finds new converts. His testimony guides us through the minds and experiences of a suicide bomber. The book supports Soleterre ONLUS's humanitarian project currently underway in the shantytown of Sidi Moumen in Morocco. Offering educational and cultural opportunities to the young is a hands-on means of stemming terrorism through peace strategies.
